Dave spun by my house last night and I saw this gem in person.  Very solid car.  I was impressed with how whisper quiet it was running.  I had forgotten how quiet they are in stock form.  I'm not just talking exhaust note, but from under the hood as well.  NOTHING.  Congrats Dave!  What lot is that where you stopped to take pictures?

I'm always amazed at how quiet a stock 5.0 is. The one in my Mark is whisper quiet. The engine in my Thunderbird is quiet but not as quiet as the one in the Mark VII. I attribute that to the roller rockers on the Thunderbird. They make a swish, swish, swish noise that the stock rockers don't make. I can only hear them with the hood open and leaning into the engine bay. The Mark is almost dead silent in comparison.

I had the window open on my truck earlier and happened upon a lady starting an '86 Grand Marquis.  THe car was in decent shape, appeared never to have been hit, with clean headlamp housings.  It was a wee bit noisy.

Good save! Nice to see a good one go to a person who will enjoy it and keep it nice, or at least tastefully modded. The '84 coupe I'm slowly assembling will be much the same way...not a part installed that's not coated, painted, or polished. Not to be show-worthy, just to last another 30 years, barring some idiot driver hitting it. (if I ever get it done)

I think you stole it for $2000.  Enjoy.

I think that is a great car for a good price.  I really like that body style, they are very well insulated and quiet down the road.  I really hope you enjoy it, that is what its for....  I dont see any on the road in this area, except mine occasionally.  Wish mine had the sport seats, its just a LS.

Cougar guys or 87/88 guys, quick question...... what should be the turn signal flashing speed for these cars?  Rapid blink or slow steady?

A slow steady, I think. If it's fast, probably needs a new flasher in the fuse panel.

Not rapid but a decent pace for the blink. Pretty much like any other car. If it's fast you probably have a bulb out.

If it's too slow you need to get rid of that heavy duty flasher relay somebody installed in your fuse box.  If it's a rapid blink you have a burned out bulb.

If you ever install a rear turn signal sequencer you'll need the heavy duty flasher.
