it figures...
a perfect example of Low hangin fruit.

the feds cant get anything else done so they figure this is something they can do.

i see a lot of people these days (even in the work place) where if they dont have a clue about a topic or cant seem to figure out what to do,, they "just do something" ,, and that something tends to be low hangin fruit which is well within thier capacity to process and absorb...
such a boring concept and wasteful

You have to wonder if it's more about tax revenue or if the people that run this place REALLY think it's that dire of a situation that cars aren't made of Nerf material entirely. Sometimes I truly can't tell. A friend has a brand new Toyota Rav4, the door panels/sills are so  high you can barely cruise with your arm out the window in the driver's seat, and you feel like you're trapped in a roller coaster car in the back seat, it's almost above your shoulder.  "If I were a wealthy man" there is ONE new(er) car I'd actually want to own. My username on here. And yup, they were never made to U.S. spec and sold here....in 25 years it'll still look sweet, I can't wait to see people bring 'em over (hopefully!) :(

1987 20th Anniversary Cougar, 302 "5.0" GT-40 heads (F3ZE '93 Cobra) and TMoss Ported H.O. intake, H.O. camshaft
2.5" Duals, no cats, Flowmaster 40s, Richmond 3.73s w/ Trac-Lok, maxed out Baumann shift kit, 3000 RPM Dirty Dog non-lock TC
Aside from the Mustang crinkle headers, still looks like it's only 150 HP...
1988 Black XR7 Trick Flow top end, Tremec 3550
1988 Black XR7 Procharger P600B intercooled, Edelbrock Performer non-RPM heads, GT40 intake AOD, 13 PSI @5000 RPM. 93 octane

As to the first part it's all about tax revenue. You bring something into the country and don't pay taxes on it bam we smash it :hick:. Just like speeding tickets and seat belt violations (I am not condoning riding around without a seat belt. You have to be pretty stupid to do that as it KEEPS YOU FROM DYING in an accident). They really enforce those laws as they are revenue generators, just like red light cameras and speed cameras. It all comes down to money, in one way or another.

As for new cars being claustrophobic yeah they kinda are. Ever sit in a Chrysler 300? It’s like sitting in a tank with a slit to look out of. Even the new Mustang we have is a bit low. I can see out of my Thunderbird or Mark VII much better, especially when backing up.

Yup. Usually under the guise of "safety."

There seems to be enough people out there that feel we should be protected from life. So much so that we should be riding in Nerf cars to prevent any chance of the slightest physical injury and censored speech to prevent the slightest chance of any mental injury to those delicate little flowers.

Here's a quick blurb on how much protection we are required to have against the risk of living:

Good point, my coworker has one of those and a couple times he's driven to go out to lunch and holy shiznit is that interior small! I think my two-door cougar has the same cubic volume as that four door "luxury" sedan! :hick:

I suspect some of that could be styling.  People chop car roofs down a few inches to achieve a similar ratio (or appearance/impression of similar ratio) between glass and metal.  The higher 'shoulder/haunches' look or low-slung look that results from those design cues.
