Headliner and console question

Are the headliners interchangeable between the 87-88 T-Bird and the Cougar. And does anyone know of a console that can be used in a 88 T-Bird.I know I would have to remove the one that hold the window and seat switches.I like the full lenth consoles.Trying to create my own look.

As far as the headliner, I have no idea. My console came from an '86 Thunderbird. It's full length from the dash to the back seat. I like that. The shorter consoles look incomplete to me. My car is an '88.

No, the headliner won't interchange, but Vinnie is spot-on about the console.

You can use any year cat or bird "fox" style console. 87+88 are the shorter ones. You will need the radio surround and brackets from one to. if you find one in the yard.

I'm just thinking....you may be able to use a cougar headliner in a bird, and cut it down..... maybe?
I don't know what a bird headliner really looks like compared to the cougars

I think your thinking backward, us cat guy's got a shorter roof, It's usually just the material sagging, Redo it. It's not that hard to pull the whole thing, I did it on my 83 a long time ago.

No, he's thinking semi-correct...the T-Bird headliners are shorter than a Cougar. In theory a Cougar headliner could be cut down for a 'Bird. But for 1987-88, with molded headliners, that still might not work...I don't know. Never tried it myself, always recovered what was in there instead of trying to make something else work.

if I remember correctly...the bird headliner I pulled out of the 87 parts bird had 2 weird seams near the rear window, and 2 push in clips to hold it in...
my cougar has neither of those, but as Eric said..in theory it might work....

I was at the yard friday getting part and looked inside a 87 Cougar. It looked like it might work but then it may need to cut.I will continue for a T-Bird.
