Greg's Engine and Machine

They prefer to rework stock engines back to "better than stock but still stock" but they will also mod to customers needs

I really enjoyed my time there today as a pit stop, reason for stopping was a mint 1970 bird but i believe the car was a 71.  The 428 block was stamped D1.

Last 428 in a T-Bird was '67, begnning '68 ford went to the new 385 series big block 429 in Birds & 460 in Lincoln Town Car... '69 brought 429 to all the full size Fords & merc, '70 saw the introduction of the 429CJ & SCJ in the Torino & Cyclones, joined by the Mustang & Cougar in '71...

Well I suppose a 428 could have been swapped in but D1 castings would likely be 390 as last year of 428 was '70... I suspect it's a 429... The 390(& 360) stuck it out through '76 in the F-Series, replaced by 351M & 400 in '77...

'71 T-Birds were a interesting car, don't see them often but I like 'em...

In the 67 T-bird the 390 was standard, the 428 optional.
In 68 the 390 was standard with the 429 optional until Dec of 68, at which point the 429 Thunderjet was the only engine available in the T-bird till 71.

A gentleman in the local T-bird club has a very nice light blue with dark blue vinyl top (dark blue interior as well) 70 Thunderbird sports roof with buckets and a console. It's a very nice car. I'd love to have a 70-71 T-bird some day.
88 Thunderbird LX: 306, Edelbrock Performer heads, Comp 266HR cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, bunch of other stuff.

I assume you mean Dec of '67, in Dec '68 they were building '69s...

Still I believe you are correct, actually there was other changes starting in Dec, which is when Ford restarted '68 production, due to being shutdown for over two months by the UAW strike... Basically there was no '68 Ford/Mercury/Lincoln production from mid Sept till Dec '67...
