Hose connections for power steering. August 30, 2012, 10:31:37 PM I marked both hoses that connect to my new rack and pinion as top and bottom. Problem is by the time I got to hooking it up I had move those lines so much that I couldn't make out either one. I took a chance and hooked the one with the 90* downward to the top (attaches to the bottom of pump) and I hooked the one with the 90* sideways on the bottom on rack and pinion (attaches to side of pump). Was I correct in doing so or do they need to be reversed? Thanks! Quote Selected
Hose connections for power steering. Reply #1 – August 31, 2012, 09:47:12 AM I read through several installation instructions and several threads on other boards and they all say the same thing. If you are looking at the rack from the front of the car the port closest to the front is the high pressure port and the one to the back (near the pinion input shaft) is the low pressure port.One of the guys replaced a rack and took some good pics but I cannot see them here at work so maybe the line arrangement will be in one of the pics:http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?30650-Tricks-to-swapping-out-steering-rackDarren Quote Selected

I know you said you couldn't see the pictures, but they don't show the connections. I will check my high pressure hose and see if it lines up the same and I will keep searching for more information. Reply #4 – August 31, 2012, 02:05:11 PM I was at the office earlier (my day off but had a pig in the line - pipeline cleaning) so I could not check the configuration on my Coupe out in the garage but I just got home and the high pressure line is in the front port and the low pressure line is in the rear port. Hose connections for power steering. Reply #5 – August 31, 2012, 08:39:21 PM Darren, Yea, I think I'm good. Today, I was supposed to go to emissions (last day) but I never made it. I did get quite a bit done though. The only thing I can think of left is the two transmission lines I had a problem with last time and connect two lines to my radiator. I went over to Sears and bought both sets (American and metric) flare tube wench sets, so hopefully it will be easier going back on. Thanks, for your help! Quote Selected
