Question for mopar guys

Yesterday the rear transmission seal went out on my wife's car.  It's a 1997 Plymouth Breeze, 2.0L 4 with Auto (not sure which one).

The problem I'm having is removing the passenger side axle from the transmission, is there some kind of retainer inside the tranny holding it in?  and if so, do I gotta pull the Differntial cover off to get at it? I haven't done much with fwd trannys and of course I don't have a manual for that car.  Thanks.

There should be a snap ring on the end of the CV shaft but it stays with it. Its kinda like that one piston ring that finds its way out of the piston ring compressor and holds it in place. A good pry bar should get it to come right loose.

Yeah usually they have a circlip that locks them in... can be a turd sometimes. Get a prybar in there and repeatedly tap the cup of the CV joint with a hammer.
