88 T-Bird Fuel Problem 3.8 V6

Car won't start.  Took off the fuel filter and checked it to make sure it was not clogged, tank is 3/4 full. Ran a hose from the fuel rail into a bucket and truned on the ignition and nothing came out.  I can hear the pump start for a few seconds so I think it's getting power.  Checked computer for codes (11) none found.  Do you think I need a new pump and if so, do you know the correct part number? Any store/vendors recommendations would be appreciated?

Does no fuel come out when you try to start it or are you just turning the ignition key to "on"?

You did an independent test of the fuel pump?

lights the check engine on the board of his T-bird?

you can run a jumper on the test port under the hood  (see google) to make the fuel pump kick on, if that doesn't work check the fuel pump safty switch in the trunk. Will have a push button on the top of it.

*edit*Btw I believe it is bottom right port on plug you ground for that, but look it up to be sure.

If its running and not pumping, the hose may have failedin the tank.

I tried to reset the fuel pump thing in the trunk, it was not triggered and did not help.  Car was running fine before.  At this point is it safe to assume that if the pump is getting electricty and trying to run then pulling the tank is next?  Or is it possible that there is another problem?

I'd say dropping the tank is inevitable. It's really not that bad, there's just a good chance of the holding straps breaking from being old and rusty. Just use a block of wood and a floor jack if you don't have a helping hand....then you can rule out the pump if that ends up not being the problem.

I am not sure want to buy for replacement.  Was looking at this one. What Character is VIN 4 in number left to right?  Do you take the pump apart and just replace this piece or do you need to replace the whole unit?
