'84 Cougar September 20, 2011, 11:24:04 PM I've been doing alot of stuff to my Cougar since I first got it out of storage 6 years ago. This year I have made alot of progress. Tonight I pulled it out of my storage unit to finally fix the wrap around coolant hoses that I rigged in there when the heater core went out.Pic of before(ghetto hose)Pic after I re-routed the lines. Also just got my package today from Vinnie and put on the Distributor boot. Tomorrow it gets new plugs, chrome valves covers and some nice red Ford Racing plug wires. I know it's not much progress. I hope to be doing a carb swap and alot of Engine Bay cleanup. As you can see from the pics down below, it looks fantastic inside and out(no restoration done, this is all ORIGINAL except wheels, hood and exhaust.), but the engine bay needs some TLC. '84 Cougar Reply #2 – September 21, 2011, 08:18:56 AM Great looking car, thanks for sharing the pics. What are the blue things in the vents?? Quote Selected
'84 Cougar Reply #3 – September 21, 2011, 05:38:36 PM Thank you! It's my pride and joy. It's been through alot in its 27 years. Vent Air Fresheners. They clip in your vents so when you have the vents going it "increases" the strength of the fragrance. It was a pic from when I pulled it out of storage in March, and I took them out. Quote Selected

'84 Cougar Reply #6 – September 21, 2011, 09:14:19 PM Awesome ride! If you are serious about a carb swap, you can simply put a Holley 500 2bbl in place of the CFI and gain as much as a 600/ intake swap assuming that nothing else will change as cam ,heads etc. A set of shorties with a good dual exh system and that 500 will make a very nice improvement. Next step would be a set of 3.73s.....but then you're approaching the point of no return...LOL! Quote Selected
'84 Cougar Reply #7 – September 22, 2011, 11:26:02 PM :burnout:I already have a full exhaust(check out my sig) and I have 3.73s with a Trac-Lok unit for my 7.5" sitting on a table behind the Cougar in the storage unit.:D:D Will the 500 mount to the factory intake? Do I need new throttle linkage or anything else modified?Update: I won't be showing the engine at the upcoming car show. My chrome valve covers went on with alittle struggle, and when tightening I tightened too much and put a hole in one, after fixing it I discovered that the A/C Compressor is in the way of the last bolt on the drivers side. My new covers are a straight up/down design, the factory have more of a dome or slant to them. So the factory ugly ass ones stay on. Quote Selected
'84 Cougar Reply #8 – September 22, 2011, 11:30:21 PM Oh, I forgot, Thanks for the compliments!!!! It was my Uncle's car, and he took fantastic care of it as you can see. The story with the car is why it means so much to me. He was killed 20 years ago, and after sitting in storage for 14 years this became my car. The body, interior and engine are almost exactly like they were 20 years ago. Just a new fuel system, exhaust, wheels/tires, and TC hood. After tonight I'm pretty convinced that he is sitting up above laughing at me. Everytime I try to modify this car I struggle and struggle. I have bought parts that people have had on this exact year/model and everything and they don't fit mine. It's a unique car. Always been reliable for me, but if anyone else tries to drive it, the car does not cooperate. Quote Selected
