So I'm Watching Top Gear USA Seaon 2

So I'm sitting watching Top Gear Season 2 Episode 2. The guys found their first cars and are testing them out. One VW Rabbit Truck, a Dodge Allient, and a Honda CDX(I think).

I started watching it and now got a little sad. A few months back I traded in my first car, and even though it was a pile of junk, I miss it.

The Car has a lot of problems,
The 5.0 motor had a rust hole in the oil pan
The intake needed to be taken off and I needed a splash plate, as oil was getting sucked up through the PCV valve.
The Body was a little rough.
The engine was running hot for some apparent reason
It leaked every fluid there is.
Car needed a water pump(leaking).
The EGR system wasn't working, and I couldn't figure out why.
The car had a random acceleration problem on random hot days, it would lurch forward.
A bunch of other stuff I don't remember at the moment.

But all in all, I think everyones first car who buys it themselves is a pile of . But I put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into the car.

Now I have a 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track Pack, and while it does get 30mpg and have 316hp and I paid for it myself, it lacks in the department of being able to work on. I could do anything to the old Thunderbird, the Genesis Coupe, not so much.

//end rant

Yeah I keep trying to give Top Gear a chance but they ruin every freakin episode by destroying perfectly good cars.  I just don't find that entertaining at all.  They need to focus more on modern and classic cars...not destroying what they consider "py old cars".  Its a slap in the face to a lot of folks out there who would love to have a nice older car for basic day to day transportation.

It's not the destroying cars that bothers me, it's the bad acting, stupid tasks that they have to do,etc. I would rather see more on the real cars, and less of their useless banter. Talking is fine, but to me, these three guys don't "fit" together. They try too hard, and still suck.

Agreed. The USA version just doesn't have the character that the UK version has.

I really like the UK version. The US one not so much... My first car was a 86 chevy celebrity and I loved the thing...

My first car (my bird) was given to me, and it wasn't very nice. There's nothing wrong with being given a car, as long as you've done well to deserve it.

And I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority, but I like Top Gear USA. Taking the trucks through Alaska was AWESOME. I can't wait for the new episode this week.

My Bird, was pretty bad when I got it. It was all dented up, rusty and barely ran. I did what I could to fix it up, but realistically, it was always just going to be a beater. I loved the car, but enough was enough.

And I like Top Gear USA myself. I'm hoping they'll have the Genesis Coupe on there this season and continue the trend of featuring every car I own.

Did you see the episode where they actually use a Turbocoupe? and they put it through their testing?

Yes. Ruttledge killed it by doing a neutral drop. The cast was roasted anywhere, it didn't have any coolant in it when he bought it, it was filthy and the inside was trashed. Not a huge loss really.

Supposed to cay that "car" was roasted.

Don't get me wrong. My T-Bird was my first car, and I cried a little bit when I got rid of it. I don't want to see a good car ruined, but  that poor TC was on it's last leg. I would however, had liked to see what would have happened if Ruttledge didn't neutral drop it and actually took off like a normal human, with a brain.
