Geesh it would be cheaper to build a 400+ HP 302 based engine....

Sure it would be cheaper, but it would be a completely different engine with totally different manners. A 400+ HP 302 would not have street manners at all, and is really living on borrowed time.

With the new Coyote, you'd have no less than 412 horsepower that can be daily driven and will last 200K+ miles. Not to mention the untapped potential of the new motor, remember that super charger?

With the technology available in the 90's yes.  Using updated parts from today?  No.

I don't see why a properly built Windsor can't make power and last plenty long.  They can be streetable at the same time too.  Hell, mine idles  near like a stocker and makes somewhere around 320-340 to the tire through an AOD.  If I had to do it again with the same block, I'd have went with the TFS 185's instead of the basic TW's.....I also would have CNC ported them before install.

The Coyote DOES have more potential out of the box though.  There is no doubt IMO on that.  Looking at flow charts cements that.

What does the Coyote Engine and electronics weigh?  I don't want any more weight over the nose of my Coupe than the 302 already has so this would be some good info to have.  A stock block 302W with a 331 stroker kit will make 400+ all day long and live for years.  Its still a very cool swap project and would I do it if I had the money...maybe.  My only hesitation is proven duration on the new Coyote motor.  Lets see where it is in an couple of years and by then the salvage yards will be full of them so it will be a more cost affective swap.  I don't like reinventing the wheel when it comes to this kind of $$$.

I agree. I'm pretty sure a properly built 302, 331, or 347 would last at least 100K and produce good power. Like I said it's cheaper to build a 400hp 302 based engine.
