Thinking about buying a Festiva... (read)

I am building the tbird for SCCA road racing events / hillclimb, but also want to do rallycross in my spare time so I need a car.

Some dude is selling his festiva for only $600 with some good mods

Fuel injected 1.6 Mazda engine swap from a 323.

Full brake and suspension swap from Mazda.

Push button start

Racing seats and harness

14 in wheel upgrade

The car only weighs 1700 pounds fully equipped, and I know for a fact you can reduce that to 1400 and maybe less.

Any thoughts?

Picked up a bunch of parts from a guy who used to have a fox bird. In his shop now was a clean festiva and a one of the small vert mercury capris. Said he intended to take the turbo 140hp engine out of the capri and toss it in the festiva.

If its clean, it can be a very cool project that will make car guys giggle. It will never get respect from 99% of the gen pop. I say DOO EEEEETTTTT!!!

I have a friend who used to own a festiva and he loved that hunk of junk. (not that its a bad car, his was just a 20 yr old hunk of junk). And I'm pretty sure there's a member who hangs out on here, names bhazard I think, who has 2 of them and he keeps em real clean. Souped em up I think too. Try a search on here for it cause I'm pretty sure hes mentioned them more than once. He can surely give you some advice on Festivas.
