is this a good combo?

take my stock 5.0 pull it out make it a 306 new everything inside b303 trick flow aluminum heads, cobra or gt-40 upper and lower, shorty headers and o/r x pipe, electric fans, and maybe a 50 or 75 shot of nos.  oh and convert to mass air.  think it would be a good set up for a mean street car?

is this a good combo?

Get a good fuel pump, and also a higher-stall converter...3.55 gear ratio at least won't hurt none either. Shed some some weight and you'll be hanging with the 2 year-old Civics and whatnot...

He does all that and he should be edging out stock or near stock S197's....WITHOUT using the nitrous.

If this is your only car or a DD I really wouldn't go too much further than that, but if this is a weekend toy I'd go with the TFS 185's, a custom cam, and the track heat intake.
I'd also get a custom valve body for the AOD, a hardened input shaft and a 3000+ stall converter ( I'd shoot for a 6800 RPM redline -- and yes with the right parts an AOD can do that).

If I've learned ANYTHING in the past few years it's this:

Pick a target goal for your car.  Now build it faster/better than that.  You'll be happier.  Also research twice build once.  Do not be stubborn.

The only thing I'd change is the cam. Run the Trick-flow stage 1 instead of the B cam.

I love my TFS-1 cam !!! Hopefully the new Trick Flow intake will work out as good or a little better than the GT40 I have now. I'll know soon enough. I love the combo I have now. There's always room for improvement, but for an all around, everyday, daily driver, this combo really does work well, and she runs strong.

You have a Trick-flow intake now? What do you do, change your intake at every oil change?

I don't have the Trick Flow intake yet, it is somewhere on a big brown truck heading this way. No, I don't change my intake on every opil change.....that would be ridiculous.LOL. Actually, the more I looked at the GT-40, the more the love started to fade. I miss the big bulky Explorer intake, but came across the Trick Flow with a spacer, 70mm t-body, EGR spacer and everything for cheap. Selling the GT40 more than paid for it and associated pieces. Now I'm broke again.LOL. Like I always said......one piece at a time..

I think the combo you're planning is a nice setup. I wish my budget allowed for aluminum heads. Maybe one day.

That would be a good combo and it would run hard. It won't be cheap but it's cheaper in the long run to do it right once than twice to get it right ;).
