Crown Vic rear discs,on a TC 8.8, 5 lug axles. Any possibilities?

Noticed a lot of crown vics w/o wheels. Saw that the newer units all had disc brake 8.8 rears. Got me to thinking about running the 'Vic discs, TC rear, and SN95 Stang axles.

My query is this: aside from the obvious axle length differences, would the rotor hat height be too far off to preclude use with the above parts?

I intended to take a tape measure and check some stuff out while I was there, but forgot to throw it in my toolbag.

Edit, google came up nil...I supposed i'm not the first person to consider the possibility...on the other hand, I also didn't study the CV rear caliper mount too well to see if it would even be possible or feasible to mount to a TC rear...

I would imagine all you would have to do is get the backets off the crownvic rear, attatch them to the tc rear and swap parts as needed. You might have to use spacers to center them. A neat trick is to mock it all up, then put the caliper onto the disc, then hook some compressed air to the brake line fitting. It will center it and hold it in place while you find spacers to fill the gap.

I think its one of those things you'll have to get you feet wet to figure out.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

All the searching I've done has only came down to swapping the stuff onto 9" rearends in the old stangs.
When I get a chance to go back to one of the places, I'll measure and try to get an idea if it will work...

I'm pretty sure the reason for that is b/c the vic uses the larger bearing ends. I looked into vic/towncar rear disc swap for rangers and the  pattern for the brackets was larger on the vic.

CV stuff also has the park brake mounted inside the rotor hat (a mini set of drum brakes)...
