I want my car running!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Replaced fuel pump, fuel reset switch, ring gear, starter, coil distributor, cap and rotor, plugs plug wires.
then tranny wouldn't shift into high, unhooked tranny cable from tps and worked fine, now bogging down and not running at all. So replaced throttle positioning sensor, vacspooge thing that sits on front of manifold, 2 o2 sensors.
Will start but will not stay running, almost like its flooding out, bogging down really bad....what next?

Hey can you start from the begining I'm not familar with your car... What year? What engine? What happened?

Sounds like you need to go back to the basics... Stop throwing parts at it your just wasting money and time :(

If you want to play the guessing game, How about clogged catalyic convertors is your problem. Try unlbolting the exhaust and taking the cats out of the picture and see if it runs... It shouldn't take to long to try and it will not cost you any money... plus if it does run the car will sound real cool too

Dude if you got an automatic, hook that cable back up to the throttlebody quick.
If you don't you'll burn out your trans.

1987 xr7 5.0 great so my alaskan mechanics quick fix has set me back more...why then does it shift unhooked and not hooked to the tps. I am so not use to these computer driven cars....every time i replace a needed sensor another comes up as being bad. thanks for your input, i give up for a while. Everyone but me is making lots of money on this car.  It's so beautiful though....

That's the worst part about any car you buy and it's a never ending cycle.

what was the initial problem you were trying to fix?
It's Gumby's fault.

Does it shift normally, or do you have to rev it up really fast before it does?

Sounds like maybe the cable/linkage/valve body is jammed somewhere and won't return to full idle position, but will go to some mid-range setting when disconnected.

Do you have to pull on the cable to get the peg lined up with the hole in the throttle arm? You shouldn't have to. If you do, you may be putting it into pedal-on-the-floor range.

Just to verify... this is the cable the mechanic disconnected?

I'm still not sure what vacuum part we are talking about here......  spout connector? Vacuum advance?

Everything on diagnostic test checks out fine, other than o2 sensor that has already been replaced. So i am having it towed 90 miles to our nearest ford dealer and letting them deal with it. i give up. Thanks for all the response, it helped with process of deduction.
