Went to look at another TC today.

Well i went to see another tc today for my buddy.
This one is near mint with a few minor problems.
88 never winter driven 1 owner TC with 137km's on it.
Body and floor is 100% mint with no rust,Tc wheels are perfect.
Eng runs smooth as a top.
Fully loaded with every option except auto climate control(must have been custom ordered that way,as to my knowledge a full load TC would have auto climate)Was repainted due to clearcoat peel which as far as i know was common to metalic red.
No evidence of bondo or rust repair(believe me i know, took 4 years of body).
Torque boxes, frame rails and fuel tank mounts are all mint.
Only things wrong with it are:
Drs door red pull strap broken
Very small tear in bolster on drs leather seat
Drs lumbar innop
Mirror switch only works one direction
One fog lamp broken
Front lisc plate bracket cracked
Dash badly sundamaged and cracked.
Taillamps have black worn off of the sides
Headlamps have the classic yellow color
If anyone has these parts or knows where i can get them, please let me know.
Other than that(all very minor cosmetic details) the car is immaculate and thje guy was asking 3500cdn and dropped the price too 3000.00cdn(good deal i would think).
So my buddy was going to buy it tonight but his stupid bank will only let him take out 700.00 at a time so he has to wait until his wife goes in tommorow to get the rest(works at the bank).
Hopefully the guy doesn't sell it from under him.
If he gets it i will post pics.

Sounds like you've found a nice one....

Yea full option TCs usually have the Auto Climate, but the std A/C is a big plus in my book(also not fond of leather and holes in the roof). My dark blue parts TC has most of the bells and whistles(including leather and auto climate), but had the std tape deck with no eq or extra amp. :dunno:

Well we picked up my budies TC at lunch and it has a few problems, see if you guys can help.
Think i got it covered but there is a problem and here is what we,ve done so far to fix it.
Problem:When accelerating eng will fall flat on it,s ass at around 3000rpm,turbo does try to boost(around 3-5 psi)but once it drops out obviously no boost.
Fixes:
Replaced Tps,was bad, read 4v at idle, now set to  .98v at idle and smooth till 4.75v.
Installed missing gasket(major vac leak)at iac motor.
Set timing with spout out at 12deg,was previously a stupid 6deg btdc(factory 10deg).
Checked intercooler hoses, all ok no cracks or splits.
Eng has had a tune up and has ford plugs, off brand wire and cap.
Ect sensor working great,checked.
Now the guy he bought it off of says that the turbo is new as is the timing belt and exaust rear of the cat.
The next things we're gonna check are:
fuel press
timing belt alignment(weather poss of a tooth)
And plugged cat/exauste
If all that is fine then poss o2 sensor or vam problem?
What do you guys think?

Sounds exactly like the first TC I owned back in '96, that the guy at the auction bragged about how good it ran.. It was a fuggin dog.... Fuel pump fixed it.

Finally got her running mint, fuel pump was bad(figured it)plus all the other  we found wrong above.
When we installed the new pump the pressure shot up to 80psi,90psi when being revved.
Figured it was the regulator gone bad since the car has sat so long.
Put in a new ford reg and that fixed it,39psi at idle and about 54-55 under boost.
Revs perfectly now and my buddy is impressed, says he doesn't know why he stuck with stangs for so long!
However lmao when he said he figures he can beat my 5.0L converted TC!
