confusion of online part ordering...

so im looking at RockAutoparts catalog and its giving me different spark plug numbers between a base 2.3 and a sport 2.3. whats the difference between a sport and base to where they run different spark plugs? i want to get NGK iridium plugs because i have an Accel ignition box so running copper its jerker then , platinum plugs make it alittle smoother so i figure iridium will make it even better.

As far as Thunderbirds are concerned, there's no "base" or "sport" 2.3t engine. Don't know why that would come up...odd.

There is no difference.  Just generic parts catalog.

IMO, take that Accel  box out of the car and throw it over the fence.  I used to run AutoLite 784's and now I run NGK V-grooves (TR-5) (I use V-Grooves on all my cars now) and have never had an issue with spark.  You shouldn't be using platinum plugs in a turbo car, and the iridiums aren't worth the premium price.  Use the coppers, and replace them every year or so.

For your set-up, the Accel box is just dead weight and now costing you more in spark-plugs.

There's no need for it with your set-up.  I'd just pull it.  The stock ignition, in good condition, will do what you need it to.

Doubtful.

If your car can't run right with it now, mostly stock, it's sure not going to help you out later.

21-22# boost, BV head, cam, 9.0:1 compression, hybrid turbo...stock ignition with no problems.  Toss the Accel junk in the trash.
