Auto wiring harness in Manual trans?

Converting my TurboCoupe 2.3T to an efi 5.0 from a 92 mustang, I also got the wiring harness and ecu from the stang.

Will an automatic wiring harness work in my 5 speed if I get one out of a 5.0 cougar/tbird

I've read different opinions on using an auto harness with a manual trans. Most guys I've found have just re done their original wiring harnesses themselves which I wouldn't mind doing.

Thanks for any help

Your biggest issue will be with the NSS.  The other will be the HEGO harness.  There's a thread on here that touches upon it.  I'll see if I can find it....

If you have the engine wiring harness from the Stang, be advised that it won't plug into the Thunderbird harness connectors on the passenger firewall.
Only the same year Bird/Cougar harness will truly plug-and-play.

As for the auto to T5, I did this in my Sport, but instead of finding the proper harness, I just taped the proper wires together to enable the engine to start. The car WILL start w/o the clutch being pushed down, but since i'm the only one that drives it, it's no big issue to me.

I also transplanted the 5.0 from an '89 GT into mine, I used the Stang's hego wiring IIRC, because the Thunderbird wires weren't long enough to reach the O2 sensrs on the Stang H pipe I also went with.

Just a head up... Not familiar with the terms HEGO, NSS, IIRC and what they are...

Would I be able to use the EEC connector from turbocoupe and splice mustang harness given I read both harness schematics? Or is it way more complicated than that....? I'm an electrician by trade so I'm familiar with these things. Don't care about keeping cruise control or ABS. My turbocoupe is already factory standard car so wouldn't the cloth safety switch and all that be fine to just leave alone?

That's actually another question, the 2nd wiring harness for cruise control and such that runs through the firewall with engine harness, it seems to run further down the car. Didnt really get far in chasing it was wondering where thy goes? Are all the wires in it specifically for the cruise control and ABS? Or should I NOT take bolt cutters to the bundle..... lol

How about the engine wiring harness from an automatic 85 Thunderbird 5.0? Found one for 500 dollars with a 5.0 that's got 130.000km's.... If I can use that wiring harness I'd be loving life, great engine to keep and build oo while I drive the current 5.0. Is that a completely different system for the dashboard because it's different dash?

Anyone have any info? Hate to make threads but I have searched and searched and searched.

Cheers

Jeff

Found a guy on here selling an 87 5.0 wiring harness.... Is this plug & play? Mass Air conversion done on it too! What little changes would I have to make? Isn't the dash on those birds digital? Would that not interfere with buttstuffog dashes in TurboCoupes?

I already have a computer and mass air for it too
