clean it off and smear some silicone over where it's leaking.. you may stop it for the time being

The front cover is full of oil grime so I'm having a hard time finding exactly where the leak is :hick:.
88 Thunderbird LX: 306, Edelbrock Performer heads, Comp 266HR cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, bunch of other stuff.

on my LS , i have an inline short section of EMT tubing , inline with my heater core return hose.
on this tube i have installed a tire air nipple but its the kind with two gaskets and a nut.

This is where I add air pressure to the cooing system then listen or look for leaks.

in your case,, i would leave well enough alone.

there is a tool just for this and its a modified radiator cap so you can inject air into your cooling system and do the same thing I am doing, although it has a guage to watch the pressure as well.
