Camshafts

What is the max lift cam you can use with the Twisted Wedge heads and flat top pistons? Anybody use the trick flow track heat cam with .499/.510 lift and 221/225 duration @.050" lift? Thanks for any input

I just put that cam in with Eddy 60379's and a cobra intake.. I love it runs great, idle is decent and has a little lope to it... cheap too $140

That cam is not all that big,
U need to know the valve releafs that are in the pistons if they have any? The Size of the valve and if the piston is 0 decked or below the deck.

U can get the specs on the heads by calling who makes then and they can give u a base line.  U also need to know how much lift the springs u have can take.  Coil bind is bad.

I use to run a X303 that has 544 lift with a flattops and E7 heads.
With no prob but i had big valve releafs in my pistons and my motor was a quench.

Well its a stock 88 5.0L so from what i've read i believe the have no valve reliefs in them. Its kinda off this subject but are the pistons in an 83 5.0L the same or do they have reliefs cut in them I have a spare engine out of an 83 tbird and I may use that as the base of my build up while i am driving the car with the stock engine in it. Thanks for the help

I've been using that TF cam and TW heads on a flat top '86 HO short block for over 5 years, no problem....

But it absoutely does require a Mass Air setup.....
