I'm employed again!!!

So after 13 months I finally landed a job!

I'll be working 4 days a week welding for a company called BOMCO in Gloucester, MA. The commute is a bit of a bitch but with what I'll be doing it's worth it. Plus since it's only 4 days a week I'll get an extra day home with the baby.

The company is called BOMCO and they specialize in custom aerospace components, industrial gas turbine components and custom land and marine precision formed metal components.

So cool job, good pay and benefits and really nice people to work with. I guess sometimes waiting does pay off! :burnout:

Oh and this means I get my ranchero back together next spring!!!

Congrats. I just started  a new job myself, but thankfully not after a period of unemployment. I just absolutely hated where I was at and found a job elsewhere for more pay with better benefits and people that don't suck.

I was actually thinking about your predicament the other day, Crystal, when I saw an advertisp00get in the local paper from the oil fields in Alberta where they were looking for all trades including welders. I was gonna ask if you'd thought about working in Canada (you can earn boatloads of money in Alberta) but I ended up working late and forgot about it. Guess it's moot now...

Thanks Carmen, and congrats yourself. I've been in those hate my job situations and it really makes it hard to go to work. Twice it was in the auto body field and once was right out of high school when I was doing accounting (second most boring job I ever had with data entry winning that title, and both at the same company, lol)

If it wasn't for the little one I'd have totally given it a shot. I wouldn't feel right taking her away from her family from either end of it though.

I almost applied for a job in Anchorage a few years back for a 6 figure stainless TIG job. Unfortunatly I missed the application deadline. I can imagine Alaska being a bit rough at times, but I'd have been out of school debt and had some cool toys to boot, lol :burnout:

Yep, they're still on gloucester ave. I'll be working in the newer building (1 of 4 welders) and they're actually planning on adding a third building in the near future to bring even more processes in house (a lot of the coating type stuff). Their goal is to be able to fully manufacture without involving outside companies. What they've already brought in house is saving them a ton already and it really helps out with deadlines.

I think they're going to end training me on the new 5 axis CNC TIG they got. They were very big on the fact that I have a good computer background and the lead welder just doesn't want to deal with it, lol.
