Purchased 3/15/05 to replace my 200K mile 87 XR7. It's a 1993, one of the first ones mass produced (build date is april 1992). Color is deep Jewel Green with mocha int, a 1993 only color combo. Has every option incl the one piece aluminum shaft, traction control and JBL headunit (which sucked so it's gone). The previous owner was an MN-12 enthusiast who purchased the car, re-painted it and replaced all of the annoying electrical parts and suspension components on the car that go bad. Has 4 new air bags, new bushings, new upper control arms, new compressor and is sensor lowered. I took a train to SC to get it for 3,000.00 to beat out 4 others who offered him more money for the car, but I was the only one who could come that week and get it. It's not perfect, but good enough right now (a/c leaks like a mofookie, sunroof seal is bad, p/s pump is going bad) The car's a monster. It's significantly faster than my 1998 LSC (pulled a 14.98 @ 95 mph bone stock) and gets better MPG (most I got was 28, averages about 21).

The wheels on it are the chrome 10 spokers that originally came on my 1998, I replaced them with the rarer "octostar" wheels. Got them for a killer price because I had to polish the hell out of them for about a week before they were chrome again.

Nice ride,looks like my dads jewel green 93 mark,except his has black interior.
Always had a soft spot for 93-96 marks.

Nice car - I've always loved the Marks myself (I even have the factory brochure for the '93 lying around here somewhere). Remember the commercial where the guy slowly drives up to a cross bar and you can hear the "ping" when it touches the roof, then he approaches it at over 50MPH and gets under it without touching? The commercial was to show off the automatically lowering suspension.

That looks exactly like the first 8 I saw (and drove). When I was doing my work experience through trade school the owner of the Ford dealership I was doing it at got the first '93 Mark delivered in Canada and kept it as a demo. It was the same color combo as yours - green with tan leather. I PDI'd it, so I was the first to drive a Mark VIII on public roads in Canada :D

I immediately fell in love and decided then that I would have one someday. That vow remains unfulfilled, but it still stands...

So did you sell/trade the Cougar? I note you use the word "replacement"...

It's kinda sold. One of two people will be picking it up next week (one agreed to my original asking price, the other I negotiated with). Who ever comes with $$$$ first gets it. If that falls through it goes for sale up here, then on e-bay.

Yeah, I did see that commercial. Not when it was new (I was 10 years old when this car was built afterall). I watched it on an auto dospoogeentary show once on the history channel. I still think that's one of the coolest car commercials I've ever seen. The 93-98 cars actually lower more than the 97-98's (93-96's go down almost an inch, 97-98's only alittle more than 1/2 inch). I've put 5700 miles on it so far and am very happy with it.

Awesome car Bill. And what a deal on it! One question though, why did you take a train to SC? Why not fly? Just wondering...

Nice car, those twisty wheels came out in 1995, chrome ones on the 1995 LSC model as an option. Previous owner did a good job de-chroming the trim to make it look like an LSC too.

Thought about this one when I was out today picking up auto parts. Saw another Mark VIII for sale for $5500, in town. Thought it would've looked much better if it were deep jewel green like this one. (the one in town was dark red) DJG is the color (or one of the colors) I want to paint my '88. Looks awesome on a Mark VIII.. although it seems to be difficult to get a truly good picture of the color. (I've tried.. and tried.. and tried..)

I took a train because it was only 100.00, a flight would've been $250.00. I also HATE flying unless it's extremely necessary. Also due to the fact that the train stops in his town (Spartanburg) so he picked me up from the station. Did I mention that I also hate flying?

The timing was also better with the train. I didn't fully decide until about 12:00 PM on the 14th that I was going to buy the car after talking to him for a week and kicking it around in my head. The last flight to SC was at 2ish PM. There were 4 trains to SC that afternoon. So after taking care of what I had to do that day, I packed up the LSC, drove to Philly and hopped on the last one at 4:40pm. Got there @ 5:00 AM, he picked me up, drove back to his shop, made the sale and I drove straight back home (kinda, I stopped at Will's house in VA to catch a few hours). So it was a good trip. Best of all, I drove all the way back home from Will's on one tank of gas (450 miles!) doing between 75-80 with a few bursts of 100-120 mph driving.

You were in Spartanburg and didn't even think about me, did you? Well I'm just really devastated. I live like a 2 hour drive northwest of there. :(

My bad, but I wasn't taking any chances on that one because it was snowy/icy the whole way (almost didn't make it out of Will's car-port). Plus the air-ride was acting kinda funky when I got it (the rear sensor was going bad, one of the only undercarriage parts that he didn't replace so the car would occasionally go all the way up in the back). Next time. I go down south probably 3-4 times a year :D
