Perhaps some 1/4 or 3/8 inch spacers will do the trick.Heck Man,I have 17x9's up front with 255 40 17's and still have room...and the wheels aren't sticking out too far either.

Aren't those brand new wheels? That sucks.Throw some other wheels on there until you get it worked out.

Easiest thing to do is to run a smaller diameter bolt through the top or bottom strut bolt hole, so you can give it a slight tilt for more clearance and then readjust the camber. Make sure you get a bolt and nut set that has a large round cap on it that will cover the hole entirely to prevent the nut and bolt from slipping.  That should offer you the little bit of clearance you need to prevent rubbing on the strut.

The only things that WILL work in this case are wheels with the correct offset, or a wheel spacer....

The strut is bolted to the spindle. The rotor/hub rides on bearings on the spindle. We all know wheels are bolted to the rotor/hub.

How is adjusting the camber affect the distance between strut and tire?

It doesn't, at least not on our Foxes with the Modified McPherson strut system....

um.... the strut is mounted to the spindle at the bottom. Moving the top will do nothing cause the bottom is mounted to the spindle with the two bolts....

something else is wrong....

I managed to stuff 295/35/17 tires on the front of my bird on 17x9's and all I needed was a 1/4" spacer.  Or you could get some excentric bolts(crash bolts) summit has them for fox mustang and I used those to get 5* of camber on my bird, but you could face them both the same way to move the strut over a little bit.

IIRC, the original TCs had some kind of restriction to keep the tires from rubbing, and that was with the tires/wheels of the day.  Stock TCs have a larger turning radius than other trim levels.  In your case, you need spacers or different offset.
