Actually this was from a customer's F-150. Eight months ago I replaced the rear brakes on it, and yesterday he had it towed in, all pissed off because his rear brakes locked up, this being the typical customer that blames all future problems with his vehicle on the last guy that worked on it. As soon as I tried to move it I knew it was the rear end. I had to remove the rear driveshaft, shift into 4wd and drag the back wheels just to get it into the shop. I know you guys like carnage so I thought I'd post pics :hick:

The pics don't even really do it justice. There are a bunch of teeth missing from the ring and pinion, and those side gears are all chewed up from chunks getting caught between them and the spiders. The actual diff housing exploded, but strangely, the diff pin did not break. When I put the truck on the hoist I didn't even have to undo the lug nuts on the left side, I just pulled on the wheel and it came off, axle shaft and all...

So I reckon you're the ass because you did the brakes, then the rear grenaded?

I hardly ever work on other people's stuff anymore just for this reason.

I wonder if the guy knew to check his rear end lube? (, that's dirty, lol)
