I made a big step today

The last 3 years my wife and I have been renting a house from my cousin.  She is 24-25 yrs old and inherited it from her grandparents.  Well long story short, we approached here a couple months back about buying.  She agreed, we came up with a price we could both live with, and today we closed on the deal down at the bank.

So I am now officially a homeowner and am in debt a little more than I was a few hours ago.  Good thing is the house appraised for about $15,000 more than what I paid so I am in a good equity position.  I need to spend a little to remodel a bathroom and just update some things (carpets, counter tops, etc) but overall I got a killer deal.  Its about 1300 sq ft, full basp00get, 3 bedroom, limestone, and is about 2 miles from where I grew up.

Hopefully once we get my wife's Fusion paid off in a few years we can build that garage I've always wanted.

Home ownership is very rewarding but also sometimes frustrating!! LOL Enjoy the new freedom of it being your own place and able to do whatever you want with it!! Be patient on the garage, I've been in my place for 4 years now and the garage talk is now just becoming a possiblity!!

Its been nice to start tearing into things after renting for 3 years.  I've spent the last few days ripping out ceiling tiles, tearing down a old room, and just cleaning junk out of the basp00get.  The basp00get is like a time warp.  Everything down there is from the 50's, 60's, etc.  We actually found a bunch of old books from the 20's and 30's.

The next big thing we plan to do is remodel the bathroom and figure out how to get the basp00get drier than what it is.  I plan to finish out the basp00get with ceramic tile and paint the walls with that "moisture blocker" paint.

If that old stuff isn't too musty or water damaged, don't pitch it, sell it! People are all about old stuff on craigslist and ebay!

We kept some of the cooler stuff...the rest was just junk that was left behind.  Probably the coolest thing I found was a little hidden treasure.  The basp00get had old ceiling tiles that were falling down and moldy.

So I was tearing them out and found a stack of vintage porno mags.  The oldest was a Aug. '67 'Playboy'.  :D
