Home Insurance?!

Well my parents previous policy is up on our House, Dad just went directly to "Safeco" and they accepted us... But just today we get a letter stating they have dropped us "Due to the looks/condition of the surrounding property".

My dad is constantly working to bring home an income and mother is very ill~This couldnt really be helped, Our property is shrouded in evergreen trees.
Anyway, Ill be working my ass off to clean up the property these next few weeks.

In the meantime... We have no home insurance and our mortgage lender is getting very pissy about it.
My mother is scared the lender is going to do something rash, And she thinks because of safeco dropping us becuase of how our property looks, No one will take us...

DOES ANYONE know any GOOD Home Insurance companies that we could try? I'm looking into so many~And reading nothing but bad reviews on all of them.

I dunno of any companies, but I do know that if you got that letter and they said they're dropping you they have to give you at least ten days notice from the receipt of the letter (and it has to be a registered letter). If this is the letter you got, it is VERY IMPORTANT to find a new policy ASAP, then call up Safeco and cancel your policy before those ten days are up. If you do this it'll never go on record that you were dropped by an insurance company (which makes it very hard and expensive to re-insure).

If you do not get insurance the Mortgage company will buy it for you at  a very high cost and bill you for it.  This is legal under Washington State law.  You need to get insurance right away, don't know of a company to use.  I would contact their car insurance company first.

A couple of years ago I was also dropped on my insurance.  The company I was with double the yearly rate.  I contacted Nationwide and they insured me for 1/2 of the old yearly rate and was very happy.  A month later I got a letter saying I did not pass the on-site inspection (due to too many cars in the yard) and they cancelled me.  I asked them does that increase the risk of fire, they said no but it invites thief.  So I said only insure me for fire and they said they cannot do that.

I have lived here since 1986 and I never had a claim or anything stolen to date.  You would think the past history would speak for it-self and they would be more than happy to take free money.

So the end of story is that I do not have a Mortgage company and the insurance company is not going to tell me what to do.  So since that time I choose not to have insurance.

So my only advice is to pick up the phone book and hope for the best.

We changed to Allstate last fall. Any company will send out someone to appraise your house. chances are, they will have the same issue that the last company had. A twig in the walkway will give them an excuse to not insure someone.

We have had State Farm in two different states, MD and TN. I have never had the sort of difficulties you are speaking of, and in both instances I have had rather tall trees near my home.

Did the insurance company give you the option of rectifying the situation via the removal of some of the trees?

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the info.

Apparently we never got anything (Especially not certified) stating coverage would be dropped, Just a regular letter stating it WAS dropped.

Removing trees isn't really an option, As these are 60+ year old NW Evergreens, Some of the tallest in the city.

Were just calling anyone that looks any good up and seeing if they will take us at this point.
State Farm had such mixed reviews i wasnt sure, There is an office literally a couple houses walking distance from our home (dunno if thats a good or bad thing)

I'm going to have my dad call "USAA" and see if we can get INS through them, as they seem to be awesome but are only available to us armed forces affililated. (past/present)

It must have to do with the state in which you live because Farm Bureau never sent anyone out to my property as a condition of insuring it.

If it's at all possible, get all of your family hooked up with one company.

With no exaggeration (and not to be rude about it), my mom, brother, brother's kids, sister, sister's husband, sister's husbands parents, sister's husband's brother and sisters and their families ---- and me ---- all have our cars, boats, homes (including investment properties) and etc all under one company.

There have been a couple of occasions that they were really nice to us ---- 'cause I'm thinking that they wouldn't want to lose the accounts ---- and I heard my sister throw it out at them once.
