Always updating:88 H.O. Build thread

OK OK OK this is the list of things going into the car im gunna break it ALLLLL down and if im missing something ill post it up and if I get it ill change the status of it.

I know Fluke and I both have started our threads almost at the same time so this will be cool to see if we run into the same problems or not.

Here is the List:

Bare Block- Have it, but needs magnaflux and cleaned
Heads- Have them (sticking to the GT40's non-P) if I find some cheap P's Ill get them but for now its this way.
GT40 Intake- Upper and Lower manifold, already have it all.
Throttle body- have 2 dunno what im gunna do just yet.
19# injectors- got em all.
Computer that went with a Mark VII H.O.- yep.

The rest is where this thread is starting.... yes means i have them no Means i dont, lol.

New plugs (bosch)- no
New plug wires (accel)- no
High Volume Oil pump- np ( but does it matter if its HV or not?)
Gasket Set- nope

If they seem pretty complex to you,get a roll of masking tape and label everything one at a time when you pull the plugs and hoses so you can re-install them correctly.I can unhook everything in minutes, but,I've done it a thousand times.I used the label method the first few times.Bag all of your fasteners and tag them so you'll know where everything goes when you re-install everything.

Thatts what i did when i  swapped my engine. Works great. Make sure you label both  what its coming from and where its going to, in case something gets pulled off accidentally and you dont recognize it.  And if you pull parts off try to keep their respective bolts and nuts with the part so you dont get them mixed up. The easiest way is to drop or thread them part way back in the holes they came out of aftrer you get it out of the vehicle.

I just used numbers instead or writing everything out like "EGR" or whatever. When it came time to re-install, the numbers went to themselves...1 to 1...2 to 2...etc.Everything hooked right up.

aahhhhh I like the sound of the numbers trick. lol my worries are the vacuum lines too, Do we switch to the old mustang vacuum tree? or can we stick to the tree we already have? Mines broke so i could get a mustang one and it would work?

Well thats the original condition of it all, Now i need to mark my main caps and my rod caps too? lol I dont have a number stamp but i think ordering one would be worth it right? Why does it matter why the caps go back in their specific place? Also, its gunna run me about 650 bucks labor charge for switching the engines out, is that worth it? I really think that i can assemble this engine on my own i just have to pay attention to my plasti-gauge.... is there anything else tricky about assembly on these?

Sent the heads off to the machine shop and told them to call me before they worked on them, that was a week ago, and I have gotten no calls, if they are this busy I'll have a friend clean up and flux my block... I don't wanna wait all summer to know if I need to bore my engine.
