DIm Odomoter / Speedomoter

Can anyone help?? My Speedomoter is very dim, along with the odomoter, Everything else is OK. I'm thinking blown bulb, but not real sure how to remove the dash panels to check it out. My dash is in very good shape, and really don't want to chance 'breaking' anything so I really wanna be sure I know what I'm doing.

its really easy to take out there are just alot of screws. while you are in there you should do "bondocougars W-2" mod. you dont even have to take the dash apart. the cluster kinda of comes out

First thing this morning I'm going to take the dash apart. Not sure about the w-2 mod though, not much experience with electrical.    :dunce:    I read everything and seems pretty simple so I'll check it out once I get a good luck at it.      :p

I saw a break away picture once before showing the dash screw locations. Maybe I can remember where and check it out again.

There aren't too many. The lower ones are hidden behind the trim panels.

Once the big panel is off, a long Torx driver for the 4 pod screws. You might also have to remove the under-column panel to loosen the shift indicator pull-cable, and might have to remove the over-column plastic cover to get slack in that cable so you don't break anything trying to yank the pod out.

If you have skinny hands, just pull it out enough to reach the bulb holders on the back. You might have to unplug the cable from one or both sides and sort of tip the pod over for clearance. You'll see.

No pics of the pod out yet (I have bulbs that need replacing too), but here's the big panel screws...

Thanks to all...my wife had other plans for me this weekend so I didn't get to do anything with the car. I got off work Saturday morning around 6:30, and was a**hole deep digging flower beds and mulch all weekend. Kind of glad to be back to work tonight, if you know what I mean.

Finally got the bulbs replaced. Had to go to the Ford dealer to get them ($13 each x2) WOWWW !! Definatey took care of the problem though. The rest of the bulbs are in the $5 range. Thanks to all for the pictures...

Also did the Speedo MOD. I was reluctant at first, afraid I would screw something up, but knew I would regret not trying. I can't believe how easy this was.

Had a little fun with the speedo because my wife didn't know I had 'fixed' it and questioned why it was reading over 85 now. I just calmly asked why she was driving that fast, and she walked away smiling with her head down. :rollin:
