I thought it first said malfunction switch.  I could use one of those, lol.  I wonder if this, and your fuel pump, could be a result of a bad ground?

Probably not.The pump was screaming, and the switch was giving me troubles a week ago.It all hit me at once so I couldn't go to Texas as I've been wanting to do for over a month.

My local yard has an 88 bird and an 88 cougar XR7,
I think I can get up there in the next couple of days , They get $15.00 for the switch,  I will grab one for you and you can pay for it and the shipping . I need not make any profit :D
Just let me know so I don't waste my time going to get it is all I ask

Did you check the flasher unit? The hazard flashers and turn signals use two seperate flashers, not the same one. If the turn signal flasher is thermal instead of electronic, it will develop intermittant symtoms of working and not working.. then all of a sudden it just stops working all together.  The one in the face of the fuse block is the turn signal flasher. The hazard flasher is on the back side of the fuse block. Both flashers are the same units. Take the hazard flasher out and install it where the turn signal flasher is and see if it works. If it does you know for sure it's the flasher unit and not the switch.

9 times out of ten it's the flasher unit that goes bad, especially when it will not flash on either side. The switch just directs the current to either side of the car when turn signals are activated. I recommend an electronic replacement as opposed to a thermal one.

You need like the turn signal level right?  If so I think I might have one on my extra column.  I can check for you in the morning.

Thanks guys.

Loaded87IROC,let me know.

As far as the flasher,I'll double check. It came with my sequential light kit. It's supposed to have a lifetime warranty,so,I'll check it after work quickly.Today is for the wife (when I get off work),so the Sport won't see me much today.

I checked out the switch that I have.  The switch itself seems to be in good shape however the actual plastic turn signal lever has a crack in it.  I don't know if that helps you or not.  Just let me know.

The lever pulls out independently from the switch...
