trans cooler line leaking ?

Its a 86 XR7 and I cant get the top cooler line at the radiator to stop leaking. It isnt leaking from the rad fitting but from the line at the nut.  Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Here is a pic of what I am speaking of. The leak is where the end of the screwdriver is. It appears there is sometype of plastic inset in the fitting. Hopefully someone will have some suggestions

autozone carries the part. I cant remember what it is, but it was cheap and fairly easy to get on. THe old one was harder to get off, and the new one just slid right over the line, no problems.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

You can buy the part at autozone. I think it was $3.

The Ford P/N is E6VY-7D273-A for a pack of two. One for the trans end and one for the radiator. They are different sizes.

Slide something thin along two sides of the tubing to move the nylon tabs and pop it out.

There are two O rings inside the connector. It looks like a PITA to replace. But maybe it could be done.

Thanks guys, it is a PITA to remove. I cut a piece of plastic and used that to get it off.  I will see about shaving the screwdriver once I get the car back together, still trying to figure where I picked up all the metal shavings on that screwdriver

Just a update for future refrence. Bought the autozone piece and it was not correct. I believe they could get it but I needed to fix it now. There part # 800-608 is wrong, I think it should be 800-609. Anyway went to Ford (thanks for the p/n softtouch) they had it in stock and it is cured.
