If you guys have a sawzall and are parting out a TC. I need the section of the firewall that is where the heater core is. I tried to cut one out with a chisle and hammer but it aint happenin. LOL!!

LOL! I am going to make a nice patch panel. My dash is super clean and I dont want to take the chance of damaging it or anything else in the dash. I have done it the "correct way" but its time to try something new. Heck if it works, I will mass produce the patch panel for all to use.

You cannnot get the heater core out without removing the small access door on top of the box so i would not bother cutting up your car only to find this out but hey it's your ride have at it.
People have tried this method to no avail,what makes you believe your way will work???

Actually, you can carefully cut the heater box and pull th core out through the firewall. After, you put the heater box back together with some form of sealer. It's been done with success many, many times.

The problem is that the hole in the firewall always looks hacked as the plate you cut out obviously will not cover the area where the cut were made.

If you search around a bit over on TurboTbird.com you will find that this method works quite well on the Turbo cars as it is a fairly simple job to remove the intercooler (if equipped) and the Turbo to access the necessary part of the firewall.

By utilizing an over-sized piece of firewall, a can be made that will; a) allow for proper sealing of the cut, b) hide the cut, and, c) if done properly, allow the repair to look almost factory.
