selling my t-bird.. hmm..

ok so i have debt over my head, infact a default loan.  i need to sell this car to give them something.

when i parked the car, no problems.  i let it sit long enough for the battery to die.  dumb me couldnt make out the pos and neg, and hooked it up wrong.  i bumped the ign just to see if it would turn over fine.. nothing and as i get out smoke with the smell of electronics and wiring.  i've been told that i can trace that to a fusable link and maybe some fried wiring, replace that, the starter and the battery it should be fine.  ok the starter and battery comes out of the price.  not only that but the key is stuck in the ign, only its repairable.  i have no idea how much the tumbler will cost.

if i did that, would i be able to get 1500+ out of the car?

Based on the pictures that I have seen in the other thread.  That's a big negative on the 1500+.  The damage to the quarter panel leads me to the opinion that even with fixing it and making it run, it would only be worth the 500 bucks that you're asking unfixed.

have you ever ran the car without the grease cap?

1500 could happen, depends on the buyer.

Craigslist will be a friend. I'm thinking you will cap out at $1000 or less. Hang in there.

I mean that being almsot rust free, and that body damage isnt bad, plus its already a v8 car. I mean I could see u getting 850-1k if it ran and drove. But I mean idk if its worth spending the money to fix it to that point

Sounds like too much work and not enough car for that amount of cash. Clean it up as best you can and hope someone was born yesterday. Or part it out.

I posted on the other thread, and I'll copy it here.

AC, don't be discouraged. I tried to sell a really nice 87 turbo coupe for almost 6 months and I only wanted $2,500 for it. It had a rebuilt tranny, and not rust. It takes time to sell one of these cars. If you need the money and you have the skills to part it out without breaking stuff, do it. People might jump on me for this but, you gotta do what you gotta do. Even mint, the cars are pretty cheap. :/

Agian, its about your situation. If you can part it out and make what your asking for the car, you can always s the car and then make the extra $75 or $100. Someone might by it whole, but its a strong possibility it is worth more in parts. I hate to say that, but its a reality, the market for these is very small.

im going to put it on craigs list tomorrow for 1200 OBO. see f i can get anyone to bite on it the way it sits.  if not im going to try and get a battery and starter and check the wiring.  im going to also look around for a ignition tumbler.  im prolly looking at about $250 into it.  so 750 out wouldnt be bad.  so if i fix the car, and cant get 1500 OBO.. i might start tearing it down and put an add for parts here.  i had a rought day today, headaches, anxiety. bleh.  im ganna give it a good try.
