coolant loss...head gasket

im not sure but i think i might have a bad head gasket. yesterday i had to put in like 2 gallons of antifreeze. and 1 more today. nothing in the oil or trans no white exhaust and car runs good, no leaks on the ground. the coolant isnt getting sucked up out of the overflow or going into it. the hose on the overflow is good. a longtime ago the car started making bubbling sounds when you turned it off. you could hear  air getting into the overflow. i replaced the rad cap and that stopped it, but now its doing it again, but now this time the coolant is going away. ive got all new hoses on the car and i did the heater core last winter .  im just looking for thoughts on this ...
i did do a head gasket on my 1989 lincoln continental with the 3.8
so if i have to do it on my 1984 cougar with the 3.8 it should be like way easier right?

well its been fine for 2 days now . i think the radiator just got low. i always looked at the overflow to check, but now im not going trust just that. funny thing is the engine light never came on to signal overheating. i dont know what the compression numbers are j cassity. i dont have a compression tester. i guess i should get one.

yes you should.

if your going to run an old car, you should expand your tool capabilities.

the reason why I asked is based soley around your thread title which is typically assumed to be reason for junking a car if your not able to DIY.
