Redrilling a rim's bolt pattern? October 26, 2009, 06:43:25 PM So I love the rims on the Cougar, but when it is time to come out of hibernation 4 lug will be gone. So..... here is my latest pipe dream. Redrill my rims (4x108 64.1ish IIRC) to fit the SHO (5x108 63.25ish hub IIRC). I know the offset will play a huge roll but I didnt want to pull the rim if its not even possible to redrill. I threw together a quick pic of it ill post later... I like it A LOT. I could reuse my tires as they are almost new also.Thoughts? Quote Selected
Redrilling a rim's bolt pattern? Reply #1 – October 26, 2009, 08:02:51 PM Re-drill brake rotors or axles.Yes,I can see that, but wheels,I doubt it.I've sen people open the lug holes a little bigger, but never a complete re-drill of them.I need to see that. Quote Selected
Redrilling a rim's bolt pattern? Reply #2 – October 26, 2009, 08:53:42 PM I had a set redrilled from 4-on-4.5 to 4-on-4.25 for my 88 Cougar, but that was possible because they were aftermarket rims with bolt s that were flat on top & bottom (the mounting was essentially a solid block of aluminum). Factory wheels are cast differently than aftermarket though, and they are not flat underneath.A wheel I've always liked, and would bolt right onto a Taurus, is the Windstar 5-spoke with the black centercap. I think they're 16", too... Quote Selected

I would like those rims if the center didnt come out past the lip of the rim. I cant stand it otherwise I would love them. I would rather stay with a factory wheel for price, easy replacement, and durability. Since I already have this set I figured I would see if it was possible. Quote Selected

Redrilling a rim's bolt pattern? Reply #5 – October 27, 2009, 08:28:58 AM I would be afraid that you would undermine the structrual soundness of the wheel by filling in the old holes and then possibly drilling new holes through part of the old, filled-in holes. (If that makes sense). I know you really like the wheels, but it might be safer to just find some new wheels that are the same diameter (so you can reuse your tires). We need a pic of these wheels!! Redrilling a rim's bolt pattern? Reply #8 – October 27, 2009, 05:48:58 PM guy on my other club forum did it with 93 cobra fanblades, went from fox to sn95 bolt pattern, drilled the hub to 70mm and filled and drilled the lug holes. he said it was pricy, but heres the shop that did the work "Wheel Concepts in California. You can talk to Glen, he was super cool to deal with, and knowledgable. The phone number is 805-376-2113, and their address is 1103 Lawrence Drive Newbury Park, CA 91320" Quote Selected

Redrilling a rim's bolt pattern? Reply #11 – October 27, 2009, 09:32:56 PM I really like the Lincoln LS wheels (posted pics here http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?p=296478#post296478)I cant find offsets for them though. I am pretty sure they are a higher. Only info I really found was that recommended offset for the LS is between 35mm and 40mm. SHO is 37-45mm so I should be good I hope.Anyone know what the offset on stock LS rims are? Quote Selected
