Redrilling a rim's bolt pattern?

So I love the rims on the Cougar, but when it is time to come out of hibernation 4 lug will be gone.

So..... here is my latest pipe dream. Redrill my rims (4x108 64.1ish IIRC) to fit the SHO (5x108 63.25ish hub IIRC). I know the offset will play a huge roll but I didnt want to pull the rim if its not even possible to redrill.

I threw together a quick pic of it ill post later... I like it A LOT. I could reuse my tires as they are almost new also.

Thoughts?

Re-drill brake rotors or axles.Yes,I can see that, but wheels,I doubt it.I've sen people open the lug holes a little bigger, but never a complete re-drill of them.I need to see that.

I had a set redrilled from 4-on-4.5 to 4-on-4.25 for my 88 Cougar, but that was possible because they were aftermarket rims with bolt s that were flat on top & bottom (the mounting  was essentially a solid block of aluminum). Factory wheels are cast differently than aftermarket though, and they are not flat underneath.

A wheel I've always liked, and would bolt right onto a Taurus, is the Windstar 5-spoke with the black centercap. I think they're 16", too...

These are aftermarket rims also. Issue is im going from 4 to 5 holes. in reality one hole can be reused, but the others might overlap.

I would like those rims if the center didnt come out past the lip of the rim. I cant stand it otherwise I would love them. I would rather stay with a factory wheel for price, easy replacement, and durability. Since I already have this set I figured I would see if it was possible.

Have you looked into hub adaptars? I think carpimp used them for a 4 to 5 lug.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

I would be afraid that you would undermine the structrual soundness of the wheel by filling in the old holes and then possibly drilling new holes through part of the old, filled-in holes.  (If that makes sense).  I know you really like the wheels, but it might be safer to just find some new wheels that are the same diameter (so you can reuse your tires).

We need a pic of these wheels!!

guy on my other club forum did it with 93 cobra fanblades, went from fox to sn95 bolt pattern, drilled the hub to 70mm and filled and drilled the lug holes. he said it was pricy, but heres the shop that did the work

Thanks.

By the time I got them filled I would be farther in than getting the rims I want and going up to 17"s

I know you can get those 5-spoke wheels like the ones you've got on your Cougar in the 5-on-4.25 bolt pattern. I lusted after 'em when I had my MN12...

I really like the Lincoln LS wheels (posted pics here http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?p=296478#post296478)

I cant find offsets for them though. I am pretty sure they are a higher. Only info I really found was that recommended offset for the LS is between 35mm and 40mm. SHO is 37-45mm so I should be good I hope.

Anyone know what the offset on stock LS rims are?
