Auto lights not working Reply #1 – October 06, 2009, 03:04:13 AM day/night sensor location is in the center top of dash.pop cover, clean lense and repeat your test.auto dim sensor location is on rear view mirror.controls for above options are the thumbwheels on the left side dash as you already know.tell us what does work but dont be vague. You say they dont work,, i suppose you mean that>"in dark situations, when I turn ignition key on, the headlamps do not come on at all" "the headlamps do work fine when auto lamp and autodim functions are turned off at the thumbwheel controls"??? correct? Auto lights not working Reply #3 – October 06, 2009, 08:51:51 AM Headlights work with manual on/off switch, when the auto switch is turned on when it gets dark and car is started the light do Not come on, the auto dim Does work...maybe to well as if it sees almost any light source (street lights) it will not allow brights to remain on. Auto lights not working Reply #5 – October 17, 2009, 11:57:54 AM The auto light dash switch does not seem to have power to it, all the other switches including the auto dim, etc. I can get a reading on with my volt gauge,...maybe I am not probing the correct wires at the switch? Quote Selected
Auto lights not working Reply #6 – October 17, 2009, 08:36:10 PM The autolamp switch provides the ground for the light sensor amplifier. The light sensor amplifier has "hot at all times" voltage from the main headlight switch. This is the same voltage that lights the headlights when autolamp relay #1 picks.Look at "view A" in the second pic below. The single wire going from the autolamp/dimmer harness to the main headlight switch to pick up the "hot at all times" voltage. Make sure that is connected. The light sensor amplifier also gets "hot in start or run" voltage from fuse 18.The relay output on the light sensor amplifier provides the voltage to pick autolamp relay #1. Auto lights not working Reply #7 – October 19, 2009, 11:28:13 PM I found a single wire with connector like in view "A" not connected to anything...wonder if that could be the problem as I seem to have no power to the auto light switch. Quote Selected
Auto lights not working Reply #8 – October 20, 2009, 12:15:33 AM Quote from: cyber-junkie;295600I found a single wire with connector like in view "A" not connected to anything...wonder if that could be the problem as I seem to have no power to the auto light switch. That needs to connect to the open terminal on the main headlight switch. Autolamp cannot work without it. Quote Selected
Auto lights not working Reply #9 – October 21, 2009, 07:53:45 PM That was it...someone must have unhooked the power wire...wonder if they unhooked them because they are being fooled and turned off by street lights...how many have a problem with the street lighting? Quote Selected
Auto lights not working Reply #10 – October 22, 2009, 12:08:34 AM If the lens on the sensor was dirty the lights may have been coming on in the daylight. Quote Selected
