Early morning car troubles

Nothing like getting up at 5 to take your brother to work, getting about 2 miles down the highway and having your tire eat itself in the rain in the dark. Quick fix and swung back home and switched to the Turbo Coupe, but this is by far the worst "flat" I've ever gotten and figured you guys would get a kick out of it. The irony is my brother works for a tow company...

They were BF Goodrich Comp TA's. And it's not like I examine my tires every day, but I do check em and they didn't show any signs of doing this...

Goodness! That tire decided to commit suicide by explosion! Glad to hear you are okay though.

Looks like the radial plies pulled away....

If that's the case you'd have ZERO warning of it happening.

I had one blow out on me, looked about like that.
It went fast, but I wasn't going but about 50, had just came out of a corner limited to 45, when it popped.

Look at the good thing in it though...nothing and nobody was hurt :D:bowdown:

How old was the tire? Glad nobody/nothing was hurt otherwise. I do like the irony though.

The tire was a few years old, I wanna say 05 and are switched with the seasons (these  tires and wheels for good weather April - Oct, other set for winter Nov-March approximately). Not complaining I didn't get my use out of them cuz I usually drive all over the place in the good weather. And luckily the wheel didn't get mangled.

Now had it been a little bit later it's legal to drive in the breakdown lane of that highway in MA from 6-10 am and 3-7 pm, and then I'd have had to drive the 1/4 mile to the next exit and I wouldn't have been happy...

Wow, that's a major blow out! Glad you're okay and suprisingly you didn't get any damage done to your car or wheel. That could've been real bad!

May have been low on air, but if you had picked up a nail and not realized it was getting low, you never would have predicted the blowout.

Just be happy the tread didn't split across the tire. The resultant flap of the tread can wreak serious damage on fenders and quarters!

That would've been the end of the car probably. That quarter is really rotted out and a lot of the rest of it isn't far behind.
