Ol' Blue, my first cougar

Since I finally got my scanner working again I thought I'd post an old pic of me and my first cougar.  It was an '86 GS with the tired out 3.8L, but amazingly enough it'd still burn the oversized 245/60's I had in the rear quite well.  Had the blue cloth interior, almost every option available inside, I had it for 3 years before my mom sold it while I was at the tech school. (Long story behind it.)  As soon as I get pics of my new '86 I will post them as well.

Nice car, pants, hair, shirt... :D I'm really liking them. Thats a very cool color.

Somehow my 3.8 could never burn any tires... ever. There are some people that can and some people that never could like myself.

Hey guys,
Talking about the 3.8's ability to spin a tire:  I had an '87 T-bird LX with a 3.8 and probably a 2.73 rear with 14" wheels and 215/70's, and it would have laid an egg out of it's tailpipe before it would chirp a tire.  I'm not sure it would have even done it on wet pavement.  But it ran fine once in motion.  My only complaint, and not just with this car but many Ford AOD vehicles, was its desire to stay in OD at all costs, no matter how much I pushed on the pedal to get a downshift.  And it was in OD by 40 mph at a casual acceleration.  I later had an '88 Turbo Coupe automatic, and say what you will about the A4LD tranny, but that thing shifted like it had a factory kit in it, and I got a downshift exactly when I wanted it.  It was just firm (at least until I toasted it; funny, but they don't work well without fluid in them - long story).
My "new" '84 Cougar LS with a 3.8, with the little time I've spent behind the wheel, feels MUCH more powerful than my old '87 T-bird.  It does have a 3.27 rear end.  I think the gearing behind a 3.8 makes most if not all of the difference in its feeling of power.  On the trip to my house with the '84, I had to force my foot back off of the pedal to get it to slow down.  It just kept wanting to accelerate, even when I didn't think I was giving it any more gas.  And this was actually accelerating in OD at 60 to 70 mph.  I was pleasantly surprised.
As far as sitting on the car: I'm one of those who would never sit on a vehicle of mine, no matter how old, dented, scratched, rusted, etc.  That's just me.  Hey, to each their own.

Well, I shoulda expected the burning coming at me for sitting on the car.  As a part of my defense this was taken before I had a REAL appreciation for these cars, ya know the old saying "Ya don't know what ya got till it's gone", well that goes perfect for me and my old cat.  About 3 months of not having it, I went crazy wanting another one.  I guess I can be glad I didn't share any old stories, I woulda REALLY gotten torched.  Don't expect me to do anything NEAR sitting on my new '86. I'd have to beat my own A$$.
