I switched to a k&n when I had my cougar.......never really noticed a difference in anything at all over a motorcraft filter (or really any other paper filter for that matter). Mine was a bone stock S.O motor with true duals though. I beleive a k&n would do better to compliment other mods than just throwing one in a stock motor and hoping for a little hp gain.

i dont even run a filter.  I figure the fender void is filter enough.

jcassity, are you serious?

the intake on my car was highly rigged when i got it. i had none of the stock parts, so i scrounged around and found a k&n knockoff filter and enough tube/couplers to run it through the fenderwell.

it's not fancy, but it's better than what was on it when i got it. i will be redoing it when i go MAF, but for now it's working

Run a filter. One of the guys in our club took his filter off at the track (just at the track) on his 427 stroker Cobra kit car. He sucked up a pebble and it cost him a block. It got stuck on a piston edge and grooved the cylinder. Run a filter.

Last person I would have expected to say they didnt run a filter.

I have on occasion, but it was more of an accident. I think ill suffer the "power" loss and buy a filter for a couple bucks then gamble with wounding my motor.

I have had a paper filter and a K&N on my GT40 5.0 (running a paper right now) and I have noticed zero difference between the two. Hell the car even trapped the same with either filter :hick:
