You've already replaced the ECT, but here's a spreadsheet where you can find if the ACT/ECT is reading correctly. Input a temperature to find the correct Voltage/Resistance. Use "goal seek" to find a temperature from a recorded Voltage/Resistance. I created it yesterday while trying to solve my EGR bucking issues.

would the above link happen to be the actual voltage reading you get by probing the ACT signal wire or input and the ACT is plugged in?
if so,, not a bad chart to have around espcially since its looking directly at the eec's pin 25.

Yes, the "volts" the sheet refers to is the input into the EEC.

replacing the EGR has, so far, seemed to fix my issue.

That's super. I was reading in the Ford service manual the other day, that whenever you change out parts the computer should be reset by disconnecting the negative side of the battery for awhile and reconnecting. The reason to do this is that when a malfunction occurs the computer has a keep alive function in the software which switches on and attempts to readjust the system to keep the engine running. The problem comes when you change out a bad part and the computer is still  running with the parameters in the keep alive subroutines activated. The book says that it can really cause bad operation and hinder troubleshooting efforts.

After you reset the computer, the manual recommends that you attempt to drive it for a few miles, to allow the computer to see everything again and determine what to do.

Problems can clear up and/or set new trouble codes depending on what it sees. You probably already know all this, but I thought it might help someone else, since these problems seem common with these models.
