Testing T-bird Coach lamps?

Hey, I just wanted to verify that there isn't some kind of resistor in the car harness for these, as I just picked up another pair and don't want them to go south because I test them incorrectly.

Also, has anyone successfully installed these on a car that did not have them from the factory?

Also, how do you take them apart? Besides carefully? I have four now, and some have better lenses than the others.
