85 30th Anniv questions

I just picked up a 30th Anniv Ed and was wondering about a few things, so a couple questions...

1) Mine has a pwr moonroof so I was wondering if these were factory because I thought they used the flip-up moonroof thru 1986 and then went to the power ones on the 87-8's ??

2) I might just have a terrible memory, but I could have sworn I'd seen a 30th Anniv with a full console sometime before.  Mine has the seat mounted consolette. Were these different options or did they all come with the console I have ?

There were lot's of different options....console,consolette,and yes, power moon roof was an option. If you want a full console,it's not that hard of a swap. There's plenty of things you can do to upgrade the car in many ways, and plenty of info all over the place here from floor shifter installation, seat swaps,suspension.drivetrain,etc.

The factory moonroof was scheduled for March 3, 1986 according to my books. However, nobody has ever offered solid evidence that any 1986 car (Cougar or T-Bird) came with a factory moonroof. Some of the parts (roof console, shorter visors, switch, wiring, etc.) had 1986 engineering part numbers in antition of the moonroof, though. People that ordered 1987 cars brand new had to wait until November 1986 for their moonroofs, so to me that's evidence that nothing was done for 1986.

Just clearing that up. ;)

If the 30th has a power moonroof then it was aftermarket installed, or installed at the dealer. It won't have the factory 1987-88 moonroof switch. Can you get some photos of the roof and switch?

1. You're gonna find ASC or some other aftermarket company's markings on the unit.

2. They all had the consolette.  That's not to say that someone switched to a full console, there were plenty non-Anniversary cars with that same color unit.  I was tempted to grab one from a blue Cougar in the yard, but I'd rather not touch our 30th.

Ok, sorry for the delay in getting back to this thread, been covered up with work and other BS.  Thanks for all the replies and info, I got some quick pics of the sunroof itself, and the open close switch inside mounted between the visors.

Sorry about the pic quality, I'll try to look more closely at the sunroof glass for some identifying markings, although I didnt notice any when I first glanced at it.

Its aftermarket, drop in metal chassis and that non-Ford switch.  Not a bad thing, just not original.  It was probably dealer installed when the car sat on the lot for a while: ours sat for several months before the first owner bought it.
