Milan Dragway today: added pics of the Mustang from 8/5/09

I took a little time off today and went to Milan for a private track rental by Lingenfelter.  The weather was low to mid 80's.  There were only about 40 cars, but some were really interesting.  Lots of quick street cars.  One was a friends 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 with a 426 stroker.  He ran consistent 12.20's @110.  There was a stock Cherokee SRT8 that ran 13.50's @101.  A black 2008 6 speed GTO a 13.31 @107.  A stock 2009 Challanger RT 14.8 @96.

I struggled to get off a clean run.  The best effort was a bogging 12.40 @116.56 with a 1.98 sixty foot.  The part I enjoyed most was:  I ran it against a friend in an older Lingenfelter twin turbo Vette.  It was a close race, he ran an 12.42.  Margin was .116, I cut a little better light.

Guys that have consistent runs w/a 5 speed have my respect.  It continues to humble me!

I have an automatic with my Mustang, it makes it so easy!  A week a go  Wednesay it ran an 11.11 @120 w/1.47 sixty foot, the quickest and fastest so far.

At my local track (Pittsburgh Raceway Park) I've seen a Jeep like you describe.  He runs into the low 11's and a huffer and spray.  That thing is awesome.

I took the Ranger once this year...then scattered the C4 the next week.  Been wanting to get back down with the bike...2007 Suzi Bandit 1250S.  With a very mild tune, stock suspension and wheel base I've run very consistently into the deep 11.30s at 117.  It will go into the high 10's with a strap and more aggressive tune.  That's a super rush on a bike.  After that the car and truck are boring.

Glad to hear you got to have some fun and that the tune-up is slowly progressing.
Congrats on your new personal bests with the mustang as well.

Cam,

Thanks!

Are you still running at the strip regularly?

They had an "Arm Drop Live" (that's Rich Christianson's non televised Pinks All out) event at Milan on weekend of the 7th.  The turn out was poor due to the rain on Saturday and shifting the event to Sunday.  I broke a rear stud on Friday's first test & tune run with the Mustang, so I was out it.  Thankfully the car didn't hook hard on that run, I may have sheared them all if it had.  That would have been bad...

I have raced my car twice this year. I have a bit of a consistency problem. The car would loose 0.10s in 60ft from run to run for no apparent reason. That turns into a 14.6s run or a 14.8s run. I did make it to the semi's last time out but I lost when I ran 0.20s off the dial! It will take more runs, but we'll get it figured out.
I have been at the track every weekend in August so far with my Dad's car but it is very difficult to race my car and crew for his car.  It never fails that the 2 classes end up being called up back to back. Made Dad has done well earning a R/U 2 weeks ago.
I would like to get out a few more times this year.

I can appreciate the frustration on the inconsistentcy, it's part of the "puzzle".

Glad to hear you dad is doing well.  Getting to the track and being a part of something is much better than not going at all!

Hope you have good luck sorting out the launch.

I've attached a couple shots of the Mustang from 8/5/09.  If they work, you can see the car before I added air to the R/R air bag.  I need an ARB to get the most out of the launch!
