Everyone's cirspoogestances ARE different so one person cannot dictate another's choices. I think it all comes down to this more than anything else. Either way, as I would have guessed most here agree it should be skipped over. You should be able to find one with <50k miles, garaged, for under $10k in a few years - that's what I'd do personally if she's dead set on wanting on of the cars.

A new car for reliability purposes (or a refreshed older vehicle) should always be the priority before all else. I assume at least your truck has been reliable. The current tbird likely as well as they generally do well. This makes the car a desire and not a necessity. I learned early on to say "no" to many things - it makes a yes all that much better :p

Wait...what's the third car?

I'm sure that truck is great though - dependable and everything. Fuel economy isn't the greatest but it's not currently $4.50 a gallon either. I still personally wouldn't spend more than $10k on a car so I would wait a few more years. Perhaps put a little money away to save up for one in 5 years? Of course savings accounts are basically nothing now but there's always stocks and bonds - they can't do any worse now than the depreciation of a car. While growth will likely slow here soon, my investments have gone back up (after dropping 50% over the last 2 years) 40% since March with 13% in the last 30 days. I would still need almost 50% more growth to get back where I was 2 years ago. While the rate of growth is a concern, I am putting all I can in there to help increase my returns 12-18 months from now. 0.01% in savings has become useless. This is a topic for another thread and/or forum though.

That's my thoughts. You would come out with a cheaper car (say $15k in a few years with the same mileage you'd get today) for less investment and no annoyances of the huge depreciation that will keep happening on cars in that price range. By then, you may be "needing" a new vehicle anyways. Gas should also be much more making the vehicle (or another) more easily pay for itself.

I'd wait,that car is way impractical anyways(reason why they didn't sell well)as it's a 2 seater.
Why sell a useful truck to get a useless car????

I personally have never owned anything with more than 2 doors, real good deterrent for people wanting to pile into your car and go some where.

I like your thinking - less wear and tear! Seat backs and headliners can get damaged/dented quite easily by certain types of individuals.

Once you spoil a women, they will always be spoiled.

I'm guilty of doing that. But I get spoiled too.
You just need to know when it's appropriate, that's all.
