245/40/17 will not fit the front

anyone got a 2" drop on their thunderbird and swing a 17*9 rim...just try 17*9 with a 245/40 and it washiznitting the strut and the car was on jack stands...would it clear if the car was on the ground....its only the front that have that problem...would a 235/45/17 fit or a 235/40/17...

They fit mine.....with a 2 inch drop.put a spacer on the rotor and then install the wheel.

9" wheels will fit, but odds are you're going to have to play with the offset.

Right now I'm running 245-45s on my fronts with 17x9 cobra knock-offs (don't know the backspacing), and suspension techniques lowering springs (2") without any tire rubbing. I do have the shorter lower control arms ('86 tbird) which bring the wheels inboard but I'm not sure they're necessary for the tire clearance...I did it for the stance.

I run steeda springs (not sure how much they lowered...at least 2") with 17x9 generic cobra r's.  Not sure what my offset is either.  I have stock lower control arms and no rubbing.

I've got 245 50 16's, but I have to run 1/4" spacers up front with the stock suspension for tire clearance to the strut.
