Right side dash vent not blowing August 01, 2009, 04:03:09 PM I just noticed that the passenger side vent (under the speaker) on my 85 xr-7 isn't blowing (while in the vent position). The other ones by the clock and beside the cluster are blowing. I can see that the vent is clear and open and the little shutter is open. Is there a separate damper somewhere for this single vent? Or a duct that may have fell off? I still have that "dead animal" smell in the car, I just hope there isn't a dead squirrel or something lodged in there...I am just brainstorming, I haven't looked up under there yet... Any ideas?CoogarXR Quote Selected
Right side dash vent not blowing Reply #1 – August 02, 2009, 12:11:41 AM Having removed the dash from these cars, both the 1984 I am restoring now and replacing the heater core in my 1985 a long time ago, the right side vent is not controlled with a seperate damper. The side dash vent ducts slide onto the air box housing that is in the center of the dash which supplies the center vents. It extends accross the area up and behind the flovebox. I say that your right side vent duct has probably slipped off the end of the center vent air box. You might be able to access this by opening the glove box and pulling it down by pressing the stops inward from glove box opening. This will drop the back of the glove box out to yield access to reach to the vent duct to inspect it and reattach it if necessary.Hopefully nothing dead will drop out! Quote Selected
