86 5.0 Issues

I just want some verification.  I have an 86 5.0 cougar that i just drove an hour south and around town then stopped at a store.  Came back out to start it and leave and it starts, runs rough, then stalls.
I am thinking TFI modual.  I do have one to pull off an 86 cougar 3.8
does anyone have any other idea's? and what about using thermal compound or such between the TFI and the dizzy?

no i havnt. i forgot how to check codes.  i did go back several hours later started it and it ran a little rough, but got it to rev up and it seemed to clear out.  and drove it 30 mins to my buddies house just fine.  and it did it again afterwards.  revved it up and cleared out.  seems to idle a hair rough so i dont know.  I do have a spare TFI module sitting in the car.  Also the fuel pump likes to stay on and hum.  so i open the trunk and grab the relay and push it together and it stops.    Just getting confused and kind of worried.  I am going to swap the TFI module in the morning before i leave for the wedding.  then check it after it warms up.

If the fuel pump is staying on it's a fuel pump/relay problem, not the TFI.
