Finaly got the bathroom finished

Finally, FINALLY, my bathroom looks presentable! I've waited three years to get my brother, a tile installer, up here to do this. I'v done every other renovation in this house myself, including rewiring, replumbing, reflooring, re-drywalling, etc, but I figured I'd done my brother so many favours he owed me. He finally came through this weekend, and not only that, he provided the tile so it didn't cost me a cent!

Here's what it looked like when I first started renovations just after buying the house (when I bought it, it didn't look quite as bad as it does in the pic, but it wasn't much better):

I replaced everything in there, from the shiznitter to the sink to the plumbing and installed a whirlpool tub. For three years I looked at the tub looking like this (bare wood):

There's only one problem: Now my bathroom is nicer than the rest of the house!

Unfortunately due to the slope of the ceiling a stand-up shower was impossible. For the past three years I had to bath instead, but I decided to install a hand held shower, so now I can sit and shower. Now I've just gotta paint it (the blue was just there to protect the drywall until the tile was done) and get some towl bars, a shiznitter paper holder, etc.

It's Gumby's fault.

That's really nice, and I kinda dig the shelf/ledge behind it too. Keeps towels and stuff handy I bet.

Looks great man, wife likes the tub. gezz, thanks for getting her started. I like the grout work you have going on there, im looking into that for our floor but looking for something that is flexible but looks like stone.

I got conned into a bathroom remodle a couple years ago.  However, it was with parts she found lying around and to include a desk.  Needless to say, it was a challenge including making the wisky jug the water faucet and old door s as the water handles.

I'm 6'3 and don't hit my head. That's why the shiznitter is that far out into the room. Where you stand in front of it is almost full ceiling height.

The tile was actually a freebie, leftover from a huge job my brother did in a multimillion dollar house. We had JUST enough (three tiles left over). Thankfully "free" also happened to be "nice".

The blue does not look that good in person. The tile is a creamy colour, and does not go well with blue. It's a shame, because I kinda liked it too. Maybe I'll paint it the hot pink it was when I bought the house :hick:

Definitely. The only problem is keeping the cats off the towels...

...Are you calling me fat? Does this tub make my butt look big?!?!?

Seriously though, the tub is actually the exact same size as a standard tub, but much deeper

The tile is ceramic. Looks like marble, though, and beggars can't be choosers. Besides, it's much easier to work with :D

Scott: I really like that bathroom setup. But then, I like your whole house. I've always loved log homes.
