So I drove the T-Bird into the city today...

...and got two very nice compliments. The first was while I was sitting in Princess Auto parking lot and a truck driver actually stopped his rig, jumped out, ran across the parking lot, and started asking questions about the car. Apparently he has an 88 TC that he bought new and it has 6,000 km on it! We didn't chat long, as he had to get back to his truck. I mentioned the forum, but didn't have a chance to write down the URL. I did not even think to ask where he was from - a trucker in an industrial park could've been from anywhere. He did kinda give me a funny look when I told him mine wasn't a TC, but a 5.0 TC lookalike, but he liked the car nonetheless.

Later that day, in a different town, I was pulling out of the A&W parking lot and a guy driving a mid 60's Buick Wildcat almost stuffed it into a pole while gawking at the 'Bird. He turned around and followed me to Canadian Tire where he started asking questions as well. He had never owned one but always liked them. Funny, I was gawking at his Wildcat as much as he was at my T-Bird.

Nice to see people actually noticing these cars (and even nicer to have them noticing mine :p)

That's very cool, Carm...makes all of your patience and hard work worth it.

I took the '84 out the other day...had to get a new ler installed, then I went to the auto parts store to pick up a few things. At both places, I got positive comments from exactly 7 people. All of them over the age of 65. Can I attract them or what! Guess I deserve that for driving a 25-year-old light blue grampa car LOL. But that's fine, at least they respect the car and the condition, and take the time to give positive comments, and that's all that counts. Collect the comments whilst you can.

Whats funny is I used to always get compliments on the car with the primer nose and the flat, hail dented hood. Sure it isnt much better now but it sounds better and I think looks better. Then again it is something like 5 different shades of black.

Now I rarely get any. I think I come off as unapproachable to most people though.

Did get one last night from a kid who asked me for some change. Another person that asked what it was. Think I am going to start counting them.
