flaring tool for exhaust joint June 08, 2009, 10:30:21 AM has any ever used the cheap ($30 to $50) exhaust "pipe expander" tools available Harber Frieght, Grainger, etc? Are these for flaring an exhaust pipe in order to slip on a 2 bolt ball /socket type ? or are they for making the pipe so you can slip it over another pipe? Quote Selected

flaring tool for exhaust joint Reply #3 – June 08, 2009, 01:43:40 PM Yeah, they're only for removing the dents caused by clamps, and they don't even do a very good job of that. They are not capable of "bumping up" pipe diameter so you can fit two pipes of the same size one inside the other Quote Selected

I broke one , returned and repeated expanding and it worked. Not good for any serious tubing though.you would get more done with a hamster eventually spinning the pipe out to the right diameter.
