88 bird 5.0... only able to use stock e7 heads/cam with dish pistons? March 02, 2009, 11:14:20 AM So I have the motor out of shawns 88 lx that got rear ended. wanting to throw it into a 87 notch I just picked up but Id rather not keep it a stock HO motor..whats the fun in that? lol. I have all the E7 parts to swap onto it but I was wondering if different heads/cam will work with these goofy pistons.NOTE Im under the assumption from others it has the dished pistons, not the flat tops like the 86 HO and I know it dont have the valve relief HO pistons... sooo I figured this would be the best place to ask.TFS heads work with flat tops, possibly work with these? Reply #2 – March 02, 2009, 02:46:00 PM Thanks Tom, so if the TFS heads work with them, would the TFS line of cams work aswell or would that be pushing it. Looking into either the St1 or St2.Combo will most likely be:TFS TW HeadsTFS 1/2 CamEdel Air gap650 carb Quote Selected

The Stg 2 will require upgraded springs, stock TFS springs are limited to .540 lift... A buddy broke a spring running a stg 2 with the std springs... Quote Selected
