Rally Bird November 21, 2008, 11:39:54 AM I ran the Bird at a Rally-X a couple weeks ago. If she stays together she'll be running several Ice Races this winter, and hopefully a full season of Rally-X. Quote Selected

Rally Bird Reply #7 – November 24, 2008, 09:13:14 AM Well, I don't call a POS, but my wife does! I bought the car for $2100 9 years ago from NE Ohio; it was a pretty good deal, but the car did have issues...Front Clip is not original to the car, and some straightening was done on the driver's side inner fender. The seats are out of a LS which I am trying to remedy as well. Other than that, all there, all straight and decent with acceptable for now rust (core support and trunk floor) I was between this car, and a '89 XR7 (after totalling a '83 Bird and junking an '85 XR7) driving 36 miles to work. I lost the turbo (Just the e-clip on the wastegate actuator arm..sigh...) and then the fuel pump. I bought a new F150 and the Bird sat for several more years until I got it running again this year. The car only has 97,000 miles (it sat once before for 5 years!). Car is stock, and runs in Stock Classes...only safety equipment is a helmet. I moved the battery to the trunk for better weight distribution. (Note that this car is way more driveable than my 302 powered '85 XR7 I had.) I plan to keep the engine and drivetrain mostly stock, but I do plan to compete in whatever RWD class has the most competition. And yes, many dirty Impreza Dudes lurking about...and I did wash the car.Ice Racing is a lot of fun, and much easier on the car than a rally cross. Car and Driver was at one of the events last year hosted by the Saginaw Valley Region SCCA. Check it out: http://www.svr-scca.com/e107/page.php?5 Quote Selected
